PRTC Weekly: 11/04/2018 (Open Mic Night, Win the Bridge, and More)

Open Mic Night

This Saturday we will be hosting an Open Mic Night as a fundraiser for PRTC! The guys at "The Bodega" (846 Lombard) have kindly offered their home as our venue. We'll begin at 7:30 and go until all performers have finished their acts. There will be a stage area set up along with a sound system. We are using this event as a mini-fundraiser. $10 at the door guarantees beer, talented entertainment, and fun!

We'll have musicians, stand up comedy, and even a few magic tricks. All types of acts are encouraged to perform. Sign up to participate (or just attend) here!

Where: "The Bodega" (846 Lombard)
When: Saturday Nov. 10th at 7:30 PM
Why: Fun!

Race Results

Camden, NJ: PRTC went three for three at the Norcross Run the Bridge 10k with all of our runners placing in the money. Sean Clark returned to this Grand Prix event with a free entry courtesy of his 4th place finish last year. He continued to impress and has now put together a solid string of races. Sean claimed 5th this year with a 32:20 finish. Top 5 are rewarded with free entries, so it looks like he'll be back in 2019!

Christine Eisenberg made her 10k debut one to remember with a hard-fought win. She took to the distance very well recording a time of 35:30. Christine faced a fast field and diligently worked her way up to the leader (mile 5), before kicking it in for the win. Kaitlin Frei also ran the bridge very well (and the rest of the course!). She placed 3rd overall and ran alongside Christine for much of the race. Kaitlin next appears at the Philly Marathon while Christine is looking forward to the Rothman 8k and Club XC Nationals.

New York City, NY: New York Marathon participants were gifted with a beautiful fall day for their 26.2 mile efforts in "The Big Apple."

Harsha maintained a smart pace which paid off nicely. He ran just 14 seconds slower over the second half of his race (despite this being the much hillier section). The effort resulted in a new master's PR at 2:43:08. This is his fastest time since 2013. Congrats!

Ben Nieto also represented PRTC in NYC. He ran just over 3 hours. His time was good for 1,387th out of the very large field of 52,704. Nice work!

Pittsburgh, PA: Colin Leak (readying for California International Marathon) took the 10 mile distance for a spin. He visited the other side of our state for the Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The race also served as US 10 Mile Championships. Unsurprisingly, this attracted a very competitive field. Colin showed no hesitation among the elites as he claimed 10th overall and broke 49 minutes in the process. Great race, Colin! We're excited for CIM!

: Abigail Cember scored money and mushrooms at the Mushroom Cap Half Marathon in Kennett Square by winning 1st overall female! The course covered "beautiful Pennsylvania farmland and foliage, but was also ALL HILLS." This makes her winning time of 1:28:28 even more impressive. Congrats Abby, enjoy those shrooms!

Collegeville, PA: And on the track, PRTC was kindly invited to race the open mile at the Ursinus College Track and Field Twilight Meet. A contingent of our most enthusiastic track athletes made the trip out to Collegeville and enjoyed a warm rainy mile.

Alex Predhome led the way for the club with a 4:36 for 2nd place in a tight race. Ethan Rissell (welcome to PRTC, Ethan!) claimed 3rd. Max Krall (who had been looking forward to Ursinus all season) PR'd with 4:40.30 good for 4th. Zach Smith claimed a PR as well with a 4:43.92 and 5th place finish.
