Race Results
Chicago, IL: This year's Chicago Marathon brought a deep dish worth of PR's and strong performances across the board for PRTC.
Matt Herzig lowered his PR to 2:17:01 for 37th place as the Olympic Trials quickly approach. We can't wait to see him appear in Atlanta! Craig Eppler followed Matt with a PR of his own as he ran 2:47:13 for 549th while Ben Nieto recorded a 2:49:37 for 701st.
Bethany Clark achieved her long-held goal of breaking 3 hours as she raced alongside her husband Sean. Her 2:58:41 broke the mark by a sizeable margin and earned her 178th place. Jess Smith claimed a PR as well as she ran to a 3:08:54 finish for 343rd. Becca Nichols (racing for two!) ran a 3:49:15. Congrats to all our Chicago finishers!

Schenectady, NY: While the world was consumed with Kipchoge and discussion of Chicago, Zach Smith, Josh Hibbs and Sam Roecker ventured north to test their fitness at the Mohawk Hudson Half Marathon.
After a scenic drive through what can only be described as idyllic fall foliage in the Catskills and the distinct odor of Hemp farms, they landed in the Empire State’s capital. Tempted by the breweries they had inadvertently planned their lodging near, they abstained (mostly) and remained vigilant to the task at hand.
Race morning brought a welcome chill to the air with near-perfect race conditions. Despite projections of a relatively slim competitive field, they were met with an unexpectedly large contingent of familiar Garden State TC members and knew they were in for a race. After a slow, strange and winding first mile through a local park, they were after it.
True to description, the course was fast and scenic. Josh was able to hold onto 3rd place in his fastest half since 2016 in 67:46. This all while ‘training through’ for CIM and capping off a 100 mile week.
Zach came looking to improve on his PR and didn’t disappoint. He came through in the front of a pack of 1:14 guys with a shiny new PR (1:14:30) for 14th.
Sam Roecker, in her usual fashion, made it look easy and dominated the women’s field, winning by nearly a minute and breaking her own course record in the process (1:16:58).

Philadelphia, PA: The Jack Saint Clair Invitational was held on Belmont Plateau per tradition and PRTC showed up in force. With Club XC Nationals travel money on the line, the team fielded two full squads and took care of business.
Chris Mateer battled for the overall win and led the way for the men as he arrived 1st across the line for PRTC. He was quickly followed by Alexis, Kevin, David, and Alex who all scored points in the team competition, which PRTC won handily.
After much last-minute cajoling, PRTC's women formed an excellent XC squad just in time to take the USATF Mid-Atlantic XC Championship title. Christine Eisenberg won the meet in 23:16 followed by Jess, Lauren, Maura, and newcomer Emma Lonlewski who all played a huge role in us securing the win and the all-important funding. Many thanks to all!
Post-race PRTC reaped the rewards of winning both the USATF and team competitions along with a few age groups. This resulted in an abundance of prizes including a trophy, coffee cups, and water bottles.

Ocean City, NJ: A trio of PRTC women took on the Ocean City Marathon and Half this past weekend with great success.
Margaret Vido scored some local press as she ran one last marathon before taking on the Olympic Trials in Atlanta. "It was exciting to win,” said Vido, a 28-year-old resident of Allentown, Pennsylvania. I’ve been to Atlantic City a few times, but I never ran here before. The Boardwalk didn’t feel too different from the road (the race moves to the road in Margate and Longport). It was nice to have the half marathon at the same time because there were more people around. A couple of the girls from my track club (the Philadelphia Runner Track Club) were in that race.” Margaret won the women's race by more than 24 minutes and recorded a PR of several seconds. Great race!
Stephanie Fulmer also took to the boardwalk, but in the half marathon distance. She too claimed an overall win. Her 1:22:34 was nearly a new PR at this still-early point in the season. A great result from all the work she's put in!
