Race Results

Philadelphia, PA: PRTC had much love for the Love Run this weekend. Eleven club members raced the half while one opted for the 7k. Participants faced light rain with moderate temperatures. Matt Herzig (using the event as a tune-up for Boston) won the event with a very respectable 1:08:15. He outpaced the competition by a comfortable margin while looking relaxed and well-prepared for his upcoming marathon effort. Simon Voorhees made his half-marathon debut with a solid 1:13:22. The accomplished miler automatically PR'd and was succesfully initiated into the world of longer distance racing. Blair Biggin (aiming for Broad Street) ran well under 1:30. His 1:26:01 was good for 86th overall.

An amazing 5 women placed top 10. Jessica Fragola had a breakthrough race while flashing clear signs of a return to prior racing fitness. She claimed a new PR by 30 seconds and a 2nd place finish. Her hard work is paying off nicely! Kinjal Parikh also PR'd at 1:20:25. She is currently prepping for the NJ Marathon and appears to be in great shape. Crystal Bacon recorded a 4th place finish after her strong performance at Adreanline earlier this month. Jenny Goswami took nearly 2 minutes off of her previous fastest half in her first race as a PRTC member. Anne Marie Everhart also made her club debut with a PR and 9th place finish. Lauren Kelly ran a valiant 1:27:26. She (along with Christy, who did not make it to the start line) was cursed with an ill-timed stomach bug. Nevertheless she still managed to finish with a strong time. Sophia Dahab PR'd by over a minute in 1:33:48 and Lucia Sanchez ran 1:36:30 as both made welcome debuts for the club. Christine Foley (wearing a custom "motherrunner" shirt) ran an impressive 1:38:50 for 113th before returning to her 11 week old Liam after crossing the finish line.

In the 7k, Dan Mallozzi claimed 2nd overall in his own PRTC debut. He ran 26:17. Congrats to all who raced, ran for PRTC for the first time, and PR'd!

Philadelphia, PA: The Back on My Feet Five Miler also boasted significant club participation. Seven members raced the event and supported this non-profit's great mission! Josh Hibbs led the way for the club by claiming his 4th straight BOMF win (at least). Tim Appman placed 4th this year, up from 6th in 2018. Breandan Lyman was 5th, up from 7th . Zach Smith followed for 6th as he continues to fight through an injury and toward a return to healthy racing. Alex Tozzo recorded a 31:57 after his appearance at the Adrenaline 5k earlier this month as he continues to race toward top shape. Abby Cember had an excelent race with 2nd overall in the women's field. We're very excited for her to take on Boston. Same goes for Rebecca Nichols who claimed 3rd and will also appear in Beantown!

Chester, PA:  Paul Matuszak and Alex Predhome burned some Widener University rubber at the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday evening. Paul placed 5th while claiming a clear highlight of a new 5k PR at 14:40. He reached this new height after last running a PR in the distance in 2007. Age did not necessarily equal racing wisdom in Paul's case though. His 14:40 was run the hard way: splitting 7:09 and 7:31. Alex Predhome also turned in an excellent performance. He returned a season best at 15:20 and a top 20 finish. Great work guys!

Monmouth, NJ: David Choi joined the PR party at the 24th Annual Monmouth University Season Opener. He placed 2nd overall with a 15:17. This shaved close to 15 seconds off of his previous best 5k. Exactly what we set out to do, smart racing! We're excited to see David healthy again with much to look forward to over the remainder of the spring season!

Raleigh, NC: Lastly, Chris Hatler found his way onto PRTC's outdoor track record list. He stepped up in distance to run a lightening fast 14:07 5k at the Raleigh Relays. This time beat Jay Wassell's 14:14 run in 2006 at the Music City Distance Carnival. Chris displayed serious talent at this distance, but next looks forward to a race of the shorter variety and in familiar territory. The good-ole mile at the Penn Relays! Congrats on the new record and great time. We're looking forward to the next (and best) Relays!
