Summer Social Events
We hope everyone is settling into the rhythm of summer mileage!
The last few weeks we've updated our race calendar. Now we're thinking social events! Here is some information on upcoming summer outings with PRTC (most mixed with running, of course).
July 3rd: Mayor's Cup Run to Parks on Tap: PRTC will be leading an all-club Mayor's Cup run to the Shofuso Japanese House & Garden which is this week's Parks on on Tap location. We'll leave from the art museum at 6 PM. Facebook event here.
4th of July Party: Join PRTC for 4th of July fun in West Philly hosted by Chris and David at their house (5132 Larchwood Avenue) at 3 PM. Keep an eye on Slack for information about attending the Wawa Welcome America Fest on the Ben Franklin Parkway and a morning run prior to the party.
July 10th: Team Social at Philadelphia Runner: We will be hosting a team social at Philadelphia Runner Center City on July 10th at 7:30 PM. Come for the pizza and beer and stay for a chance to reconnect with or meet teammates! We'll have singlets available for new members and take some time to get caught up with t-shirts handouts (from Broad Street) and other distributions. Facebook event here.
Philly 10k Training Runs: Diadora and the Philly 10k are holding a series of runs this summer in preparation for their big August race. There are are 3 remaining and all end at fun locations. There may even be a chance to try on some demo shoes from Diadora. Catch these on: July 18th(Diadora at the Bok Building), August 15th (Philadelphia Brewing Co.), and August 23rd (Cherry Street Pier). All runs leave from Philadelphia Runner Center City at 6 PM.
Race Results
Princeton, NJ: Athletes all over the east coast descended upon New Jersey this past Sunday with hopes of securing qualifying times for USATF Outdoor Nationals at the Princeton Twilight Meet. This created plenty of fast competition on what turned out to be a fast night.
PRTC had representation in both the men and women's 1500m with Carey Celata having the first race of the night for the club. Carey performed very well in the elite field as she continues to adapt to longer race distances. Her 4:24.78 was just a few seconds short of her best time of the season.
Chris Hatler, chasing a time of 3:39.00 to qualify for Outdoor Nationals, came very close to achieving the standard. He ran 3:40.28 which was good for 4th place in a deep field. His time is a new club record (replacing Brian Gallagher's 2002 time of 3:47.20 at the Villanova Twilight Meet) and just a second short of a PR. Way to go, Chris and Carey!
