PRTC Goes Plogging
Thanks to all who participated in our "Plogging Fundraiser" Saturday morning! We did really well collecting illegally posted signs all around the city while also getting in a few miles. Our four groups took on Brewerytown, Loft District, South Philly, and West Philly. We removed signs advertising expired community events, "cash for home" schemes, music shows, and even a few Stormy Daniels posters. After the run we met for brunch at the Greek Lady where we swapped stories and caught up.
While we haven't done an official count, it appears we met our goal of collecting 500 signs. The City of Philadelphia has agreed to reward participating non-profits with $0.50 for each sign turned in. We should be able to add $250 to our budget thanks to our volunteers!
Many thanks to Dynise for organizing!

Pride
Philadelphia, PA: PRTC was well represented at the Inaugural Philly Pride Run. The race signaled the start of this year's Philly Pride Parade. Over 25,000 people were expected to celebrate Pride Day.
The course began in the historic "Gayborhood" at 12th and Locust. Cain Leathers won in 16:27. He was fortunate the directors sprung for chip timing as his late arrival resulted in a 17:11 clock time (which would have been 4th overall). Cain had to pass nearly the entire field to take the win!
Meanwhile, Kurt Palumbo had this to say about his 12th place finish. "It’s been years since I raced a 5k, and I realized why within the first few minutes. My legs were burning but what really got me through it was when a spectator blew a huge bubble at me and shouted “yaaasssss”; that meant the world. I'm happy with my result given a lack of true speed work."
Proceeds went to the William Way LGBTQ Community Center. Great work!
Results
Cain Leathers: 16:27 (1st)
Kurt Palumbo: 18:47 (12th)

Parks on Tap
The great summer tradition of Parks on Tap is here! This week the roving beer garden will make an appearance at one of our favorite places, Belmont Plateau. It will be there from Wednesday through Monday. We expect a group or two will head over after a run.
Please keep an eye on our social email list for more details. We encourage everyone to sign up for this list if interested in our social events. Chris Mateer hosted a fun West Philly bonfire on Saturday night. We plan to organize more nights out like this through the summer.
