PRTC Weekly: 2/4/2020 (OTQ Kick-Off, Millrose, Return of the Grand Prix, etc!)
OTQ Kick-Off, Millrose, Return of the Grand Prix, etc!
In case you didn't hear, we're really taking advantage of the Leap Year this year and the United States is holding the Olympic Trials for the marathon on February 29th. Philly is going to represented well and then some. PRTC has decided to send off all of the City of Sisterly and Brotherly Love's qualifiers in style at Yard's Brewing on Tuesday, February 18th. Buy your tickets here to support our qualifiers and, more importantly, secure drinks specials. (Editor's note: the Trestle Inn is only a few blocks away)
Second things second, the infamous Millrose games are coming up this weekend and PRTC will be represented by both a women's Distance Medley Relay (11:35am) and Chris Hatler in the Allan Steinfeld Invitational Mile (3:19pm). The event is a short Megabus ride and $22 standing room ticket away. Tickets are available here if you want to see some fireworks before brunch even ends Saturday.
Still, in the excitement of indoor track and Olympic glory, it's sometimes easy to lose sight of what's important in life and running. Luckily, this newsletter is back to be your light in the dark.
We are a mere 18 days away from the beginning of 2020 Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix Championship for the other half of Kevin's heart. The series kicks off at the Ambler Frostbite 5 Miler on February 22nd. Sign up by clicking right here. Last year 3 of us ran it after getting the norovirus midweek and Chris Mullin ran the whole thing with the tags still hanging off his jersey so you have 0 excuse for not showing up.

Staten Island (x1): Out of the generosity of her heart, Maria Seykora made it possible to essentially copy and paste her results from last week. Maria once again traveled to Staten Island and won the mile at Ocean Breeze in a smoking 4:56. Catch her this coming weekend as she anchors the women's DMR at Millrose.

East Stroudsburg: In a second display of absolute dominance, Carey Caleta and Shannon McCarthy blindsided the ESU DeShriver Invitational. Carey took on the mile and 3k. Carey won the mile by over 20 seconds in a 5:10 (on a flat track). In the 3,000m Carey finished second, as teammate and training partner Shannon McCarthy took home the win. Third place was almost 50 seconds back.

Edinburg, TX: They say everything is bigger in Texas, but no one told us that the epicenter was Edinburg, and the epicenter of that is the 38th All-America City David Chavana 10k. PRTC sent two representatives down to battle with the big boys and they each emerged among the top 5 Americans (with the paycheck to prove it). Colin Leak finished as the 3rd American in 30:31, closely followed by Dylan Gearinger, who was the 4th American in 30:59.

Colin Leak: 30:32 (9th overall, 3rd American)
Dylan Gearinger (or Georinger, per the results): 30:59 (11th overall, 4th American)
