Race Results

Philly 10k

Get your brooms ready! And not just because South Philly is covered in garbage, but because PRTC brought a clean sweep to the Philly 10k. Both the women and men took a cool 1-2-3 at neighborhood classic.

On the women's side, Rosie Mascoli ran a conservative first half, which proved to be a wise move given the unholy humidity that left most finishers looking like they had finished the first leg of a triathlon, rather than a road 10k. Rosie crossed the line in first in 36:14 and was closely followed by Lauren Kelly in 2nd, who finished in 36:31. Rounding out the sweep for the women was Jess Smith in 37:21.

Next up was Steph Fulmer in 39:10 in 6th place, giving the PRTC women 4 in the top 10. Emily Molitoris snagged 15th overall with a time of 41:13 to round out PRTC's top 20 finishers.

The remainder of the PRTC pack included Sophia Dahab (41:55), Kate Courtin (42:32), Elizabeth Campbell (42:59), Gina Hostetler (43:05), Rebecca Nichols (43:36, making her return to racing after baby #2!), Sarah Tampio (45:54), and Laura Coyne (46:38).

Leading the sweep on the men's side was club 5k and 10k record holder, Ryan Mahalsky. Ryan rolled up in basketball shorts and trainers to take the win in 31:08. Noah Falasco snagged 2nd overall in his club debut in 31:32, as he builds up to the PDR half marathon this coming weekend. Snagging 3rd overall was Liam Galligan, as he builds up for a fall of XC racing, finishing in 32:18.

Rounding out the top 10 was Josh Hibbs in 6th, finishing in 33:50, Chris Mateer in 7th in 34:06, and James Dickinson in 10th in 34:40. PRTC Alum Sean Clark ran a phenomenal race to grab 4th overall as well.

The club put 4 more in the 20, as David Choi finished in 12th overall in 35:07. Matt Ferry grabbed 16th overall in 35:41 as he made his comeback off a broken toe. Harsha Thirumurthy finished in 17th overall and first master's in 35:50 The race served as a tough reintroduction to humidity after Harsha spent a good portion of the past month in the temperate northwest. In 20th was Steve Hallman, running 36:05 if the midst of his Ironman training.

Rounding out the club's men's finishers was Ben Nieto (36:17), Hiroyuki Ono (36:33), Kevin Dugan (37:38), Colin Bodels (37:42, 1st 50+!), Brian Lin (37:54), Geoff McGovern (39:01), Zach Brooks (39:30), and Matt Bruner (40:11).

Belmont Hall of Fame 5k

Opting for the hills of Belmont over the road of South Philly, a handful of club members competed at the Belmont Hall of Fame 5k.

Maria Seykora took an easy win on the women's side, finishing in 19:32, over 3 minutes up on 2nd.

For the men, Phil Celona made he return to Philly racing to take 6th overall in 17:53. Adam Moffitt made his return stateside to take 12th for the men's field in 20:02.

Twilight 5k (DC)

David Dorsey can't not break 15 these days. Despite classic DMV area humidity, Dorsey laid down a 14:50. No matter how hard I've looked, it doesn't look like a result link exists for this race so you'll need to just trust me or go find Dorsey on Strava.

New Haven 20k

The New Haven 20k served as the U.S. Champs for the distance and PRTC was represented by Ryan Mahalsky, as he made a quick turn around off the Philly 10k. Competing against some of the nation's best, Ryan finished in 21st overall in 63:38.

Lehigh Invite

Sometimes I'm hanging out and thinking "Man, I love cross-country, no one can love cross-country more than me", but rest assured, that thought is incorrect, because Adam Moffitt exists. With his 2nd cross-country race in this newsletter, Adam Moffitt took 142nd at the loaded Lehigh Invite in 23:07 for the 6k course.

Misconduct Mile

Like all the best races, times don't matter at the Misconduct Mile, it's all just about pure, unadulterated competition. The race format included a beer chug - run a mile to a 2nd bar - beer chug - .75 miles to the third bar.

Cindy took her 2nd win of the day, dusting the competition. Nick Cardamone was not as lucky, as he got dropped during the 2nd chug and then had navigate his way to the 3rd bar via Google Maps.
