PRTC Tri(?)-Weekly 11/7/2022: NYC, Run the Bridge, Marathon Weekend
Race Results
Garden State Showcase #1
Calvin Schenck made his club debut and set a 5k PR, running 15:51 at the Garden State Showcase in Edison, NJ. A mid-distance specialist in college, Calvin returned to his roots 30 minutes later to run a 69.43 500m, good enough for 4th overall.
Zoe Matherne also raced the 5k, finishing in 17:39.

Atlantic City Half/Full
Battling windy conditions, Lauren Kelly took the win at the Atlantic City Marathon. Lauren went into the race aiming to get in a long workout in before the Philadelphia Marathon and walked away with the win and a nice payday.
In the half, PRTC took a pair of 3rd's, with Connor Harriman and Olivia DeRogatis both taking the bronze. Connor finished the half in 72:02, coming off a week long layoff, while Olivia, similar to Lauren, went in with the goal of a long, hard effort, and came away with an 82:44.

Penn Relays 5k
A crew of club members took to the hallowed grounds of Penn Park (and Franklin Field) to race on more turns than they ever have in their entire lives.
Friend of the club, Ersula Farrow, took the win for the women in 17:18.
On the men's side, Matt Bruner ran 17:12 for 11th overall. He was followed by Chris Watson in 17:17 and Colin Bodels in 17:19 (winning his age group, as per usual).

Indy Half
Olivia again?? Yeah, and wind again too, unfortunately.
Two weeks after her effort in Atlantic City, Olivia headed to the home of the Colts, USATF, and probably something else, to race the Indy Half. She encountered 40 mph gusts on the course and seemingly took a spill, but powered through to an 81:25.
From what I can tell 2022 results don't exist online yet, so sorry.
Run the Bridge
A slew of club members ran to Jersey and then immediately turned around. Smart move!
Jess Smith was the highest club finisher, taking 2nd overall on the challenging course in 37:08. Also competing the PRTC women was Sarah Tampio, finishing in 44:23 for 13th overall in her first race after her great marathon in Erie earlier in the fall.
On the men's side, Jason Richwall took 3rd overall in 31:57 and was joined in the top 5 by Connor Harriman in 32:56. One spot back and taking the top master's finish was Steve Gourley in 34:11. 2nd overall master's finisher was club friend, Chris Naimoli, running 34:31 one week after placing 2nd in the 40-44 age group at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs.
Rounding out the club's finishers was John Hoffman 37:17 (13th), Matt Bruner 37:37 (14th), Colin Bodels 37:59 (16th), and Andy Potocek 38:15 (17th).
NYC Marathon
It was an unexpectedly muggy this past weekend (whole week, to be fair), making for exceptionally challenging conditions at the NYC Marathon.
Kayla Lampe set the pace for the club, with an extremely impressive 2:40:22. Kayla raced in the professional women's field, finished 23rd overall in the internationally competitive field. She continues to chase an Olympic Trials qualifying time (2:37) and seems poised to do so when she catches the right day.
Liz Coda finished the race in 3:16:16, battling not only the conditions, but also coming of a hamstring injury that hampered her training throughout the fall.
Cody Amengual wasn't hurt but he also didn't train much. He puked at mile 19 due to dehydration but somehow still finished in 3:58:36.
